About me
I’m a registered dietitian with a passion (and borderline obsession!) with the Gut Microbiome. I currently work as a Highly Specialist Dietitian in the NHS and alongside this am now exploring my love for healthy bacteria, through private practice. I strongly believe that optimal gut health is at the heart of being happy, energetic and a healthy weight.
I am a mum of 3, a keen netballer and a foodie- I love to travel. I’ve always been fascinated by the human body and in 2003 completed a BSc in Human Biology. The following year I opened a smoothie bar and outside catering business, with a desire to fill the niche at that time, for tasty, yet nourishing ‘fast-food’. After selling this business, it naturally led me on to a postgraduate degree in dietetics- bringing together my love of the body, good health and food.
After qualifying as a dietitian, I enjoyed the experiences and grounding of life in the NHS, working on hospital wards and in outpatient clinics- supporting patients with many conditions, including irritable bowel syndrome, other gastrointestinal disorders, low body weight, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, food intolerances and obesity.
I enjoyed a career break to raise my family, returning to practice and the hospital wards at the very start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A modern approach
In recent years and with the emerging evidence base about the gut microbiome and its extensive roles in our well-being, it has become a source of fascination for me. My dietetic focus has therefore moved in this direction.
I can help you to make dietary changes, that can have a positive impact on your gut and in turn your long-term health and well-being.
Why choose a dietitian?
The term dietitian is protected by law. Unlike other nutrition professionals in the UK we are always NHS trained and qualified. In order to see patients we must be registered with a regulatory body called the HCPC (Health & Care Professions Council). We follow a code of conduct, which includes staying up to date with the latest research and best practice. We are also THE nutrition profession trained to help individuals to manage their medical conditions, through dietetic counselling and therapeutic diets.
